Artist Statement

A professional artist for 10 years, I have a wide range of abilities and enjoy both meticulous and free-flowing styles of painting. Working mostly with oils and pastels, my paintings include realistic and sensitive portraits and luminous landscapes. I enjoy using some of the techniques employed by the master artists of the Old World, such as painting an entire underpainting of the subject in black and white and then overlaying many thin glazes of color for more luminosity in the finished product.

I’ve known ever since I was a child, drawing from the Old World European paintings and sculptures that I found in books, that I would be an artist. I have a deep love for the kind of beauty in the paintings of the old masters, and I strive to create that kind of beauty and perfection in all of my work. My work hangs mostly in private homes and businesses. I sell my work through word of mouth referrals and online.
